Far North Rally cancelled for 2020

Organisers of the Far North Rally have made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 event due to the ever-evolving Covid-19 global pandemic. 

With the event originally scheduled for 6 June, organisers determined it is too soon after both the New Zealand Government and Motorsport New Zealand’s guidelines to guarantee the event could safely go ahead. 

"We are absolutely gutted to be cancelling the event for 2020 but we want our competitors, volunteers and suppliers to be focusing on their families and friends at this difficult time,” said Far North Rally Committee Chair, Jeff Torkington. 

"We also wanted to give competitors and volunteers ample time to amend their plans so we have opted to make this decision as early as possible to allow for that,” he continued. 

However, the committee has agreed in principle that the event will return in 2021. They will confirm a date as soon as possible, and after the wider New Zealand sporting calendar becomes clearer following the pandemic.

"We will keep you updated throughout the year but rest assured, we have every intention of bringing you a fantastic event in 2021,” said Mr Torkington. 

The Far North Rally committee wish to pass on their thanks to everyone who has supported the event this year, including sponsors Copthorne Hotel & Resort, Bay of Islands and also pass on their well wishes to the wider motorsport community at this time.

The entry fee is $890.00 if paid by direct credit, cash or cheque, or $910.00 if paid by credit card.

Direct credit payments can be made to bank account 01 0183 0055476 00.

Payments may also be made in person at the Auckland Car Club rooms any Thursday night by cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS.

If you provide your credit card details on the entry form, your payment will be processed through the Club’s EFTPOS machine.

Unfortunately, credit card payments cannot be made through the MotorSport NZ | Online web site.  If you have entered on-line and wish to pay by credit card, please contact the Secretary on 021-889-488 to provide your card details. Your payment will be processed through the Club’s EFTPOS machine.
